How to Adjust the Doctor Blade Angle
Make adjustments only when rolls are in working position and under normal nip pressure — e.g. closed and loaded nips, calender or supercalender stacks.
For soft rolls: turn them regularly during installation to prevent flat spots. When alignment is finished, open the nips and lift the doctor clear.
Adjust bearing height so the blade touches the roll at both ends when lowered.
DIGITAL ANGLE CHECK
- Place foot 4 on the blade end, with the fin centred on the tip (Fig. 2).
- Press “ALT REF” to zero the device against the roll tangent. Wait until it reads 00.0.
- Rest both foot tips on the blade (Fig. 3).
- Read the angle directly from the LCD.
- Move the doctor end in or out until the target angle is reached. Mark the position and tighten bolts. Repeat at the opposite end.
