Tight tolerances are critical. Any damage will hurt performance, so always handle with care. Follow these rules:
- Never drop the unit. It sounds obvious, but use proper lifting methods for every move.
- Protect the holder. A bent holder causes uneven pressure and may scratch the roll. Where possible, attach slings to journals or use designated lifting points. Use clean nylon straps, or pad cables/used straps. If slings must go around the doctor blade back, place blocks to keep straps clear of the holder.
- Keep it balanced. When lifting, prevent uncontrolled rotation. This also applies during later maintenance work.
- Plan your move. Lift the doctor in an orientation close to its working position — this makes installation easier.
