Precautions for Doctor Blade Installation
Coordinate doctor installation with other planned shutdown jobs. These include roll changes, fabric changes and crane bookings. Make sure enough time is set aside for mechanical fitting and full alignment work.
Work out how many people you will need. Arrange for specialist fitters and electrical/instrument technicians to be on site. This guarantees every task is carried out properly and meets all requirements.
Wherever you can, finish preparation work in advance. For example, route all air pipes, power cables and lubrication lines. Also clear away anything that might get in the way before the installation day arrives.
Look over the whole area for anything that could obstruct the work. Do not assume everything is clear or correct — some details are not shown on the doctor drawings, so always check on site.
Clean all mounting points thoroughly. Check each surface carefully to make sure it is in good condition and ready for fitting.
